Updating your HelpMaster v16 or earlier Web Interface to the HelpMaster v17 Web portal cannot be done with an in-place upgrade because the new v17 web portal is completely new and incompatible with previous versions.
If you attempt to use the v17 HelpMaster Web Setup utility to upgrade your older HelpMaster Web Interface, the previous Web Interface will not show up after selecting the "Upgrade an existing instance of the HelpMaster web interface". This feature is purely for future upgrades of the HelpMaster v17 web portal.
The new HelpMaster v17 web portal must be deployed by selecting the "Create a new instance of the HelpMaster web interface" option. This new deployment will not affect the previous version at all as long as a different "Web Site root path" is selected and the "Port Number" / "Host Name" combination is unique and not the same as the older Web Interface.
